Her Neck Hurt Every Day for Three Years. Then It Didn't.

Dr. Leila, 43, dentist, Dubai. Started training at DKing Combat for posture. Stayed for everything else.

The neck started in 2021. Three years of waking up and being reminded, before coffee, that her body had been doing something she hadn't asked it to do.

She'd been a dentist for fifteen years. The posture that comes with that work — head forward, shoulders rounded, the same slight lean repeated thousands of times a week — is well-documented in occupational medicine. She had done the stretches her physio gave her and felt them not working.

Her physio suggested strength training

Not yoga. Not swimming. Actual load-bearing, structured strength work. She said she wanted something that felt like more than exercise — she wanted to feel capable, not just maintained. A patient mentioned DKing Combat during a root canal appointment. He explained while she worked. She noted the name on a Post-it she didn't throw away.

DKing Saad assessed her movement in the first session

He spent time watching how she stood, moved under light load, and where she was compensating. He told her two things: that her core wasn't weak — it was misused; and that the pattern causing her neck pain had started in her hips.

"I've had three physiotherapists look at my neck. He was the first person to look at my entire body as one connected thing and explain the actual chain."

The training was technical, methodical, demanding — precise repetition under instruction until the correct pattern becomes automatic. She found that familiar from dentistry.

The neck started improving at six weeks

She noticed it because she almost didn't. She reached for her phone on the nightstand — the movement that usually made her wince — and nothing happened. It took a moment to register the absence of something she'd been living with so long it had become background noise.

Her physio, at an appointment twelve weeks in, said the muscle activation patterns were different — not stronger, different. More integrated.

She still trains at 6am on Tuesdays

"My patients come in tense. I used to absorb that. I don't anymore. Whether that's the training or just who I've become from it, either way it's useful."

The neck has been manageable for seven months. She recently recommended DKing Combat to a colleague — told her to let DKing Saad look at the whole chain, not just the part that hurts.

DKing Combat System is application-only training at Max Burn Gym, Al Quoz 3, Dubai. Limited spots per intake.
